1848 STAGE COACH
Discover the American Stage Coach of 1848. Since 1716, stage coaches traveled the distance between Boston and Rhode Island, but its design as we know it today would see the light around 1820. Now it has a built-in Oval box, a door on each side, an outside seat for the coachman and suspensions reinforced with triple crossbow.
These stage coaches were almost the only way of transportation available to the majority of the population to cross the country, it was due to the development of the west when they were most used, long before the railway.
Most of the western errands were under contract from the United States Government to transport the mail and news of new laws, passengers traveling on different errands
